As long as I can put a lens on my camera, you know, the type that creates images with creamy blur/varying depths of field, and character that yells, "Oh shit this is great glass!", then photography will never end. It will just continue as an art form most people won't want to deal with because of its mindful attention to detail. This is why many people don't paint, it's messy, and thoughtful. Photography, with intent of getting a great, visual, emotional outcome will remain. Just like the difference of paint by numbers vs someone putting brush to canvas and allowing their creativity and style produce something unique.
